Orange County Vice Chairman Doug Chaffee to Juneteenth Celebration

ORANGE COUNTY, CA (June 3, 2021) – Orange County Vice Chairman Doug Chaffee, in partnership with National Women's Leadership Council, Orange County Black History Chamber and Hera Strategies will host a 2021 Juneteenth event in Orange County on Saturday, June 19th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Anaheim Community Center Park located at 250 E. Center St, Anaheim, CA 92805.

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of freedom in the United States and traditionally celebrated among the African American community. This inaugural Juneteenth event will educate, uplift and celebrate the African American culture through live entertainment, resource tables and family fun.

“In recent years, we've experienced incidents against African Americans from all ages and economic backgrounds and are undergoing efforts towards ending racial injustice and empowering African Americans, " said Vice Chairman Doug Chaffee. "Our Juneteenth event will spread awareness of the Juneteenth holiday and educate the public on the rich cultural and historic African American community in Orange County."

Proceeds from sponsorships of the Juneteenth event will be donated to the Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) African American Alliance Fund. The mission of the African American Alliance Fund is to raise awareness about systemic racism and support programs that advance African aAmericans within Orange County and surrounding communities.

Orange County Vice Chairman Doug Chaffee represents the Fourth District, which includes the cities of Fullerton, La Habra, Brea, Placentia, and portions of Anaheim and Buena Park. In his first term, Vice Chairman Chaffee has combatted homelessness by supporting the creation of and allocating funding to the Buena Park and Placentia Navigation Centers and during the COVID-19 pandemic, he provided more than $15 million to small businesses in the Fourth District and school Districts in the Fourth District with technology grants to assist students with distance learning during the pandemic.
